Group lessons are so much fun! These lessons are designed for individual art projects in mind while being in a group setting. This provides students the opportunity to connect with peers, learn how to share and develop empathy and respect for different perspectives and feelings. These classes also provide the students the chance to learn from their peers and expand their knowledge of the arts.
Group classes are usually up to 12 students (depending on the project). These classes can be a series of 4 classes, 2 classes, or single class (also depending on the project and month).

Project 1: FAVORITE FRUIT
Making collages is always an exciting and creative experience! In this project, My Favorite Fruit, students will be inspired by the work of artist Megan Coyle, who is best known for her vibrant and expressive collage art. Using magazines scraps students will create a collage of their favorite fruit. As they build their compositions, they will explore how tints and shades of color can create depth and dimension, learning how light influences color and where highlights and shadows naturally fall. This hands-on activity encourages both creativity and a deeper understanding of color theory in a fun, engaging way.
Project 2: TINT TOWN
TINT TOWN is a vibrant and imaginative art project inspired by a local artist who is not only a talented graphic designer but also a proud new mom! During this creative journey, students will explore important design principles such as hierarchy, balance, shapes, and forms. They'll also dive into color theory by experimenting with tints and shades to bring their artwork to life. As part of the project, students will paint their own unique town, filled with buildings, landscapes, and personal touches that reflect their favorite things. To add even more creativity and detail, students will incorporate Zentangle patterns, giving their town texture and visual interest.

Project 1: ZOO ANIMALS

Project 1: FAVORITE ANIMAL
Students will be drawing their favorite animal while learning about the unique style of artist IAN MIDDLETON, who refers to his work as "Rubistic Art." Middleton's style combines geometric and organic shapes to depict animals and scenes from nature, providing a vibrant and imaginative approach to art. Students will apply what they've learned by using colored pencils to create their own Rubistic-style animal drawings. Throughout the lesson, they will go over basic color theory concepts such as tints, shades, and values, enhancing both their technical skills and artistic expression.
Project 2: A COOL PLACE
Students will explore the Expressionism art movement, learning how artists used bold colors, exaggerated forms, and emotional intensity to convey personal experiences and feelings rather than realistic depictions. Students will create their own Expressionist-style painting by using paint as their medium and the goal will be to depict a location anywhere in the world that they personally consider to be a "cool place"—whether because of its atmosphere, meaning, or visual appeal. The focus will be on expressing their emotional connection to the place through color, brushwork, and an appreciation for the power of mood in art.

Project 1: POPSICLE TINTS
Who doesn’t love popsicles? In this refreshing and fun art project, students will explore the Principles of Art with a focus on tints. While creating their own colorful popsicle paintings, students will learn how to mix paint to create lighter versions of a color, known as tints. This hands-on activity introduces basic color theory and also encourages self-expression. The result is a sweet blend of learning and fun that’s perfect for young artists!
Project 2: TEXTURE CUBE
Touch is one of the five senses, and this hands-on project is all about exploring it through art! In this fun and interactive lesson, students will create a Texture Cube—a three-dimensional artwork that showcases a variety of textures on each side. This engaging activity helps students understand the concept of texture in art and how it connects to our sense of touch, making the learning experience both creative and sensory-rich.
Project 3: MY LETTER COLLAGE
Letters play a vital role in early childhood development, from learning to recognize and spell their names to eventually reading and writing. In this creative project, students will design a collage centered around the first letter of their name using cut-out pieces from magazines. This activity not only strengthens fine motor skills but also encourages personal expression and visual analysis, making it both educational and engaging.
